These days, tattoos have become a very important part of pop culture. While they were once deemed unacceptable and trashy, tattoos have now become popular among everyone from skaters to business executives. For most people, getting a tattoo is a pretty big decision. After all, getting something permanently etched into your skin isn’t something that most people take lightly. As a result, most people have some pretty cool stories and explanations behind their tattoos. However, that isn’t alway the case. Everyone knows at least one person with a tattoo who has it for no apparent reason, and even celebrities aren’t exempt. Here are 10 celebrity tattoos that make very little sense.
Ed Sheeran – The Lion
Lions are the king of the jungle, but that doesn’t explain why Ed Sheeran felt the need to get a huge lion tattoo across his chest. Not only is this tattoo extremely random, but it actually looks a little odd. In fact, the tattoo is so bizarre that many people thought it was a joke. However, Sheeran has since revealed that the tattoo is very real. Shear’s tattoo artist says that the still needs a lot of work, and hopefully the end result is a little less…strange.

Jennifer Lawrence – H20
Jennifer Lawrence is currently one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood. Fans can’t get enough of seeing the young star in her role of Katniss Everdeen and Lawrence seems to be loving every minute of it. However, even some of her most dedicated fans are a little confused about the tattoo she chose to get on her hand. The tattoo, which simply reads “H20,” doesn’t seem to have any significance to Lawrence, and the color of it actually resembles a scar. As if all that weren’t enough, the symbol is actually written incorrectly.

Rihanna – Gun
Rihanna has proven time and time again that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her, so it should come as no surprise that she has a tattoo that has a lot of people scratching their heads. With a gun tattooed on her side, many people are wondering what exactly it means. Apparently, there’s no real meaning behind the tattoo, and RiRi just got it while at the shop with a friend. However, this tattoo isn’t the only one that doesn’t make much sense.

Jessica Alba – Ribbon
Jessica Alba is one of the most well-liked actresses in Hollywood. Her talent, good looks, and kind demeanor has made her a fan favorite, and it’s hard to find fault with her. However, Alba does have a little something she probably regrets: a tattoo on her lower back. That’s right, you know what they say about tattoos on the lower back, and Alba’s, a little pink ribbon, isn’t any different. Unfortunately, the quality isn’t even great – which makes it even more senseless.

Brad Pitt – Lines
They say love makes you do some pretty crazy things, and apparently, being in love with Angelina Jolie made Brad Pitt get a pretty bizarre tattoo. The tat, which was ‘designed’ by Jolie, appears to be nothing more than a bunch of random lines across his side. According to Jolie, “it just lines up beautifully on his back, just enhances the part of the body I like. It’s meaningful in that it’s us making angles and shapes out of each other’s body, that kind of a thing.” But it must be one of those things that you had to be there to get.

Nicole Richie – Virgin
Some people have tattoos that may have meant something at one time or another, but things change – and that seems to be the case for Nicole Richie. On her wrist, Richie has a tattoo of the word “virgin” something she clearly isn’t because she has two children. She claims that the tattoo is in honor of her astrological sign, Virgo, but there might have been a better way for her to handle that.

Mike Tyson – Tribal Tattoo
For his entire career, Mike Tyson has always been a very outspoken and controversial figure. At this point, there probably isn’t anything that he could say or do to shock people, but the random tribal looking tattoo on the side of his face definitely turned a few heads. Tyson doesn’t regret the tattoo, but it’s okay, the rest of the world regrets it for him.

Over the last few years, it seems that Justin Bieber has gone overboard in his attempt to shed his cute pre-teen image and prove that he’s now a grown man. In the process, Bieber has gotten more than a couple tattoos, and he seems to be very interested in the theme of religion. While there’s nothing wrong with getting a tattoo that is in line with your beliefs, the Biebs definitely went a little overboard with a tattoo of a cross, a portrait of Jesus’ face, and a tattoo of Jesus’ name in Hebrew.

Lindsay Lohan – Shhh
Time and time again, Lindsay Lohan has proven that she may not have the best decision-making skills in the world. But even with that being said, getting a tattoo of the word ‘shhh’ on the side of her index finger seems a bit much – even for her. Sure, some may see this as a clever idea, but it just seems a little ridiculous, especially when she’s usually the one who needs to shhh.
