He went on whiny bitch fests last summer when James Franco signed onto play Fidel Castro for a movie. That annoying writer Clayton Davis who works for Variety fueled the bitch fests which continued when Carey Mulligan signed onto play the white Argentine wife of Leonard Bernstein in that Bradley Cooper movie. Both Leguizamo and Davis failed to understand that Latino/a is an ethnicity and not a race. The bitchy part of me hopes the Bernstein biopic ends up an Oscar contender and Mulligan gets a nod. I would love to see Davis have to walk back past comments about her.

The whole “Latino is an ethnicity” argument is bullshit. You can learn Spanish and that doesn’t mean you’re suddenly Latino. I can learn Italian and that doesn’t suddenly make me Italian.

There are some people who identify Hispanic or Latino, but they know very little or no Spanish. They also don't really do celebrate customs or holidays of Spanish speaking countries they descend from. Sometimes they don't fit into ethnicity/cultural part.

I remember years ago, on an NFL related message board there was a poster who claimed he grew up with former QB Mark Sanchez. The guy said that Mark's whole " proud Mexican American" persona when he was at USC and later in NFL was total bullshit. He said Mark had zero Latino friends and didn't care to learn Spanish as a kid. That poster could have been full of shit, but I thought there was something phony with Sanchez and I couldn't stand him when he was in the NFL.

What does that have anything to do with the topic at hand? Mark Sanchez is Mexican whether he speaks the language or has Mexican friends or not. Just like Margaret Cho is Korean whether she speaks Korean or not.
