Logan Paul has admitted he may have saved Rey Mysterio's life during their clash at Crown Jewel but doesn't want too much credit for it.

Paul claimed his first WWE title at the expense of the Master of the 619 in Saudi Arabia with one particular moment garnering much praise.

The Maverick defeated wrestling legend Mysterio in Riyadh earlier this month to become the new United States champion.

Paul has already been lavished with praise for his rapid transition to professional wrestling having made his name on YouTube.

One moment with Mysterio in just his eighth WWE match showed off his ring awareness to protect the 48-year-old from serious injury.

Mysterio will be out of action for the next two months after undergoing surgery but it could have been far worse.

The spot in question saw Mysterio attempt a backward somersault off the ropes that saw him almost land straight on his head.

WWE stars are prone to broken necks, with Edge, Stone Cold, Paige, and Lita among the wrestlers to all be dropped on their heads.

However, Mysterio was spared the same fate after Paul's quick reactions saw him catch the legendary Lucha libre before he hit the mat and ended up harmed.

Paul has since reflected on the frightening moment and admitted, that while he has enjoyed the praise, he was also partly responsible.

Speaking on his IMPAULSIVE podcast: “Look, I’m going to come clean, because I’ve seen all these positive headlines right, ‘Logan saves Rey Mysterio’, the Mexican community going crazy, they’re praising me, saying I’m sort of a hero and so I’m like dang, I’m being recognized for doing something cool I’ll take it.

“Upon assessing my performance, while I do think I did save Rey Mysterio’s life I think I also almost killed Rey Mysterio.”

Paul expanded on the incident to reveal that the near-deadly botch was a mistake by both himself and Mysterio.

Despite this, the 1-1 boxer was still relieved that he was able to react fast to catch former WWE champion Mysterio before he got hurt.

Paul added: “I think I was too far back for the move and I think he didn’t clear enough ground for the move, that’s what happened like.

"I was too far back and he didn’t clear enough ground we both made a mistake and I had to catch him and I wasn’t gonna not catch him so like truthfully while I like the headlines and I like being gassed up like this, I was just doing my job.”

For his part, Mysterio has since revealed he was already carrying a serious injury coming into the bout with Paul at Crown Jewel.

The legendary cruiserweight has been working through a torn meniscus for about three months hence the need for him to drop the United States title.

Mysterio has now undergone knee surgery and will be sidelined for up to 8 weeks but without Paul it might have been even longer.
